In this project, C.Doody and N.Williams recreated a portion of a fresco found in the House of Xeste at Akrotiti, Thera. The portion of interest includes a young Minoan girl gathering crocus (saffron) flowers. The original fresco is dated between 2000-1400 BCE. This fresco provides a representation of the main colors used in the Aegean Bronze Age such as red ochre, Egyptian blue, carbon black, yellow ochre and reserved white. Also, it is an example of having the reserved white of a plaster background. The aim of this recreation is not to imitate the fresco as it looks today, as it has considerably faded, but to show how it may have looked when it was freshly painted.
